Here at Cosmopolitan Eyecare, we are proud to offer contact lens examinations.

Many people prefer to wear contacts instead of eyeglasses. Luckily, as advances are made in the optometry field, more and more people are able to wear contacts to improve their vision.

If you are interested in getting contact lenses, it is important to let your eye doctor know since contact lens examinations are not always performed during routine eye checkups. We have to run additional tests, so we will have to schedule extra time for your examination.

During your contact lens examination, we need to know about your lifestyle and what you plan to do in your contact lenses. If you play sports or work in the dust, we need to know so that we can figure out the perfect lenses for you.

There are a lot of different options when it comes to contact lenses. You have to decide if you want daily, weekly, or monthly lenses, which depends on how often you want to change them. There are also rigid gas permeable lenses which are not disposable. They usually provide sharper vision than traditional soft lenses.

We also offer bifocal contact lenses if you need two prescriptions. This helps to correct the vision of those who suffer from presbyopia. We also offer monovision lenses, in which case you wear two different lenses. One is used to correct your distance vision, while the other corrects your near vision. There are also contacts which can change the color of your eyes.

We do recommend scheduling your contact lens examination at the same time as your routine visit. This will save you time and money.

Don’t hesitate to contact us at (212) 302-4889 today to schedule a contact lens examination.

Myopia Control

Myopia is an eye condition where objects that are close to you are clear, however, objects far away are blurry. This is caused by the eye being slightly long.

Myopia can happen to children and adults. Research has shown that there are ways to prevent the progression of myopia, and the younger the person is, the better our treatment process will work.

There are three treatment options for controlling myopia; We can use atropine, soft multifocal contact lenses, and orthokeratology.

Atropine has the ability to slow myopia, without significant mydriasis and cycloplegia. It is available at a low dosage through a compounding pharmacy.

Soft multifocal contact lenses will slow the progression of nearsightedness and provide an effective treatment option. Children that wear multifocal lenses notice twenty five percent less myopia progression and thirty one percent less elongation than those wearing single-vision lenses over a period of two years.

Orthokeratology treatment is used to temporarily reshape the contour of the cornea and reduce myopia. During the treatment, you will need to wear gas permeable contact lenses at night only, which will result in better vision during the day without the corrective lenses.

We are dedicated to the health of your eyes. We work with patients of all ages and are happy to answer any questions. Our practice has all of the latest technology to ensure that you receive the best treatment possible.
